Your Farmers

While studying sustainable agriculture, natural resources, biology, and ecology in a university setting, we became enchanted and purposed with the idea of providing people in our community with food and medicine while rehabilitating our ecosystem.

Now in our twelfth season farming together, we farm because we love the land and consider it a gift to work with the earth every day; we look forward to sharing the abundance that results with you and your family!

Our Team

We are joined on our land and in our work by Matt and Riley, two Haflinger draft horses.  Matt (who joined us in 2013) and Riley (who's been with us since 2011) are responsible for all of the field work, including plowing, discing, harrowing, and mechanical cultivation of crops, on the farm.  They also hill potatoes, haul in the harvest, and seasonally work with us to sustainably harvest firewood and building materials from our forests.

Support Staff

Roka, our German Shepherd Dog, came to Singing Nettle Farm as a puppy in the early winter of 2013.  Her jobs include deterring wildlife from interfering with farm operations, rounding up the chickens if they decide to leave their fenced pastures, and supervising the horses while they perform their mowing duties.  She enjoys her work and play on the farm, and especially loves rides in the wagon.
